QUESTION:

What Is Your Spirit Emotion?

ANSWER:

“They that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.” [Colossians 3:2]

“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” [Galatians 5:24]

“Satan is always near to try to get something fumbled up in your mind. But tonight, set your affections on things above, where Christ sets at the right hand of God. And remember, the Bible said, "He's the same, yesterday, today, and forever." And if His Spirit be here, He reveals things today as He did in the days gone by. Heavens and earth will pass, but His Words shall not pass. Have faith in God. Do not doubt.” [Looking To The Unseen, Cleveland, OH 50-0816]

“That's the way, every man or woman that's born of the Spirit of God. It's not you. It's not human emotion. It's because that the resurrection, or the power of God, is in that human life, and is pressing up into Everlasting Life, moving into Eternal Life. Something in here; you could not hold your peace if you had to. There's something within you.” [Go Tell My Disciples, Jeffersonville, IN 53-0405S]

“People don't know what compassion is. Compassion and love is the will of God. And you can only exercise that as God gives it, not human, emotional passion, not emotional love, but Divine Love, which can only be rendered and given by God.” [Looking For Jesus, Phoenix, AZ 54-0228E]

“No matter how saintly you are, how godly you are, how much of a minister or lay member, or whatever you are, you'll never be able to get anywhere with God till you get in the Spirit. That's right. I don't mean get in emotion. I mean get in the Spirit. See? See? You get in emotion, do anything. But when you get in the Spirit, you see things.” [The Seven Church Ages, Jeffersonville, IN 54-0512]

“A doctor said to me, not long ago I was talking to him; he said, "Brother Branham, what's the matter with those people," said, "they're just worked up. That's what makes them act like that, crying and running to the altar." Said, "It's emotion."I said, "Doctor, you ought to know enough; it takes something to excite the nerves before that a person could be emotional."Certainly, it is. It's something present. And it is true, that when the Holy Ghost comes down, It stirs the crowd to emotion. They're setting there anointed with the Spirit of God, and the Holy Ghost sweeps across them, it stirs emotion. It's got to. Jesus said, "If they hold their peace, the rocks will immediately cry out." [A Personal Experience With God, Chicago, IL 54-0724]

"How do you get it, Brother Branham? How do you ever get into this fellowship?" Through the shedding of the Blood, not from some experience. No, sir. Not from some mental emotion. No, sir. Not from some bodily exercise. No, sir. Them things are all right, as good as they may be, but yet that's not the foundation truth. Leave that set over here to one side, till you get back here right, back here, till you get to the altar, and all old things pass away. A peace that passes all understanding comes in, till you can hate no more, you can envy no more, until something that makes you love the worst enemy you ever had, not imagination, something that'll keep you from talking about the neighbor that persecutes you, something that'll make those... love those who despitefully use you. It'll make you pray for those who are indifferent and ugly towards you. That's the foundation.” [Fellowship By Redemption, Jeffersonville, IN 55-0403]

“I believe and think, that any man that's got an experience with God (or a woman) is bound to get a little emotional. I just believe it. That's right. But you know what? They've adopted EMOTIONALISM for the baptism of the Holy Ghost. They just get a lot of noise and there's nothing in it. You live just as holy as you live noisy then you'll be all right. Emotions is certainly all right. Bodily exercise profiteth little, but enticing spirits has got over into the holiness group of people and it's got them to just resting upon because they can shout, or because they can dance, because they can make emotions. That old fellow down there, the chief of all them prophets (the preacher), he was so sure that he was right that he made himself a pair of horns, and danced all around, and made a big commotion: he was going to push the other Syrian army out of the country. But it was a lie. God's Word said different. Amen. See? You can be emotional right, if you got the right kind of emotion behind it, the right kind of emotion moving your emotion.” [Enticing Spirits, Jeffersonville, IN 55-0724]

“My dear brother, ministers, I want you to thoroughly understand, that in approaching this subject of Divine healing, I lay it all to Calvary and the finished works of our Lord Jesus at Calvary. It's not any MENTAL EMOTION, any work-up, any psychic. It's truly your faith in the finished work at Calvary.” [Jesus Christ The Same, San Fernando, CA 55-1113]

“Take God at His Word, for by faith are you saved, and that's through grace, not by works: no MENTAL EMOTIONS, no stirred up, no speaking with tongues, no shouting, no nothing. By faith walk into the Presence of God, and say, "Lord God, I come solely on the basis of Your Word and I believe You." [Why Are People So Tossed About, Jeffersonville, IN 56-0101]

“The anointing is not emotions. The anointing is supreme power in control, like knowing exactly what and how, see, and that's what's here.” [Why Are People So Tossed About, Jeffersonville, IN 56-0101]

“When you was an alien from God, you ceased to be an alien; now you are a child. From death unto Life, from darkness unto day, from mortal to immortal, from corruption to incorruption, from weary unto joy, from death unto Life, and are resting fully upon THUS SAITH THE LORD. Not upon feelings, MENTAL EMOTIONS, theory, upon some unknown something that somebody has said to you that has no basis, upon someone say, "Well, you come and join our church, and it'll be finished"; but upon the Word of God the human soul rests solid. God said so. That settles it, makes it real.” [Why Are People So Tossed About, Jeffersonville, IN 56-0101]

“Check back through the Bible and see if the prophets or anything, ever done anything outside of first seeing it first to be done, 'cause you can't say it's THUS SAITH THE LORD unless the Lord has said it and you know it. It ain't a mythical workup or some MENTAL emotion; it isn't a psychological--psychology; it is absolutely God foreshowing something that's going to happen. Correctly. And it'll happen every time. It'll never fail once.” [God Using His Gift, Shreveport, LA 56-0311E]

Father God, this little, bitty flock here this morning, but there's real men and women sitting here that's Your children, that believes You and loves You. I pray, God, for them. Maybe some of them have never accepted You yet, never really had the experience of all the old carnal things of the world dying out, they just lived on a church confession, they told people, and told others. Maybe they've been baptized or something in--in Christian article, but never really have ever been saved. They don't really know what it is. Maybe they just been MENTALLY emotional, intellectually professed Christians, thinking that they're right by a sentiment, where, "There's a way that seemeth right unto a man," seems like it's right, and you got it, "but the end thereof is the ways of death." [Revelation Book Of Symbols, Jeffersonville, IN 56-0617]

“We're contending that there's one true, living God, and that He's just as live tonight, as He ever was. And that we are not here just with a fictitious belief; we're not here all emotionally wrapped up in some emotion, or psychology, or enthusiasm. We're here in the Presence of the living, resurrected Jesus Christ, Who stands with us each night, and proves Himself to be alive, raised from the dead, and is here with us now.” [Divine Love And Sovereign Grace, Prince Albert, SK 56-0814]

“I'm so sick and tired of seeing little petty Hollywood revivals, so called, where people come in and get emotionally stirred up for a couple hours and--or day or two, or a week or two, and go out and that's all of it. Brother, you can be worked up by a revival. You can have emotion. You can have good intentions. All those things are fine. But we don't need that today. We need a baptism of the Holy Spirit to change the emotions, and the intellects, and the views, the habits, the life of the people, and put them back on the right road again. Outside of a Blood transfusion from Calvary, all of our reformations won't do any good at all.” [A Blushing Prophet, Jeffersonville, IN 56-1125E]

The Bible is right. And if Jesus is willing to come here and make this so manifested to you, so perfectly, beyond any realm of psychology, beyond any realm of emotion, a perfect miracle! A miracle is something that cannot be explained. I can see where a man could be a--a little lame in his foot, and could jump up, and under an emotion. Right. But who could tell him what he has done, and where he has come from, and what's happened, and what will be? And I challenge you; it's never missed a time, in the tens of thousands times thousands, around the world.” [A Greater Than Solomon Is Here, Hot Springs, AR 63-0628E]

“You thinking you have, and having It, is two different things. You might be able to try to say you have, and you might be able to show some evidence of some emotion; but unless your life is vindicating what you're professing to have, you still haven't got It. No matter how many emotions, how much you jump, run, sensations, speaking in tongues, or shouting, or whatever you might lay it upon; which is all right, I believe in all that, too; but unless your life copes with your testimony, then you haven't got It. Cause, the fruit of the Spirit vindicates what you are, just like the fruit of any tree tells what it is. Jesus said, "By their fruit you shall know them." [A Paradox, Chicago, IL 63-0801]

“On the inside of that man is a man called spirit, and he has five senses: think, thought... and thought, and love, and conscience, and so forth. All right. Now, you can't think with your body. You think with your mind.” [Christ Is Revealed In His Own Word, Jeffersonville, IN 65-0822M]

“No selfish thing will work. Your motives and objectives has to be exactly, perfectly right, then you have faith, to ask. "If our hearts condemn us not, then we have confidence." See? See, we've got to have confidence. "I want this to the honor and glory of God." Then faith has a--a channel to move into; if it doesn't, then you got mental, intellectual faith, and not genuine faith from God. That intellectual faith will get you nowhere. Might get you emotional, but it won't get you the healing that you're looking for.” [I Have Heard But Now I See, Shreveport, LA 65-1127E]

“Harvest time. Have you noticed that in the harvest time, though there is a real acceleration in the ripening, there is consequently a slowing of growth until there is no growth? Is that not exactly what we are seeing now? The false vine is losing multitudes to the Communists and various other types of belief. Her numbers are not increasing as she would like us to think. Her hold on the people is not what it used to be, and in so many cases going to church is just a show. And the true vine? What about her? Is she growing? Where are those vast numbers that keep coming to revivals and answer altar calls? Are not most of them merely emotional in their approach, or desirous of something physical rather than desiring that which is truly spiritual? Is this age not like the day in which Noah entered the ark, and the door was shut, but yet God tarried in judgment seven days? No one was literally turned to God in those silent days.” [A Resume Of The Ages, Seven Church Ages Book 65-1204]

“Our spirit is clean. It is fresh. It is real. It is sober and serious but nonetheless, full of the joy of the Lord. The Christian ought to be just as exuberant and full of his pleasure in the Lord as the world is when it savors and delights in its pleasures. Both Christians and the world are human; both have emotions. The difference is the Christians' hearts and emotions are purely on the Lord of Glory and His love, while the world satisfies the flesh.” [Patmos Vision, Seven Church Ages Book 65-120]
