“John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;” [John 1:26]
“Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. JOHN 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.” [John 4:22]
“The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.” [John 9:30]
“And John was so persistent that He was going to come in his generation, he never built no big schools. He never had no great seminaries and invited people into them. What did he do? He was so sure, that he said, "There's One standing among you    now..." Amen. "You don't know Him, but He's the One that'll baptize with the Holy Ghost. I know He's here." Hallelujah. How we can say the same thing tonight. By the signs of the Holy Ghost, we know that same Holy Ghost that fell on the day of Pentecost is here. Same thing--the same thing that God said it would do in these last days. (Excuse me for not staying back here. But if you felt like I did, you'd walk too. So...) They... John was sure, and he knowed what that sign of Messiah would be. So he--he absolutely was persistent that he'd know Him. One day He come walking down among them. He said, "Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world." He said, "He that told me in the wilderness to baptize with water, said, 'Upon Whom thou shall see the Spirit descending and remaining, He's the One that'll baptize with the Holy Ghost and fire.'" “ [62-0623 Perseverant, South.Gate CA]
“It comes in and goes out, and people does not recognize it until it's passed, and, they, because that it never fits their theology, it never fits the time of the day. See, what it is, they're always living in a glare of another age, always. The reason they didn't accept Jesus, because they were living in the glare of the Law. And when Jesus came, was not contrary to the Law, but come to fulfill the Law, well, they couldn't accept Him because His Message wasn't exactly the way they had it all creeded out, and it was called then traditions. And He didn't come according to their traditions. He didn't keep their traditions. And really He upset it, and tore it up, and--and done things that was contrary to it, insomuch that they thought He was breaking up the churches. And they couldn't receive Him because of His Message. And we all know today that He come exactly in the line of God's prophecy, but they didn't know it then. 13  And it could happen again, and we wouldn't know it. I imagine if He would actually appear tonight, it would be so contrary to what we've got all figured up on our charts, and in our schools and things. It would be a very few would recognize what was going on. He said it would be that, how He come.” [64-0618  The Presence Of God Unrecognized, Topeka KS]
“John never established any schools, but he was concerned about the Word of the Lord. And he would... After being concerned, he knowed he had to be convinced where that Messiah would be. And he was so convinced when He come out, he said, "There's One standing among you    that you don't know." Oh, brother. "One right now is standing among you. You don't know Him, but He's the One. I'll know Him, because I'm convinced that I can't make the mistake. God told me in the wilderness I'd know Him, for I'd see a sign over Him, a Messiahic sign." The trouble of it is, we don't stay long enough. We're not convinced. That's the reason our concern has left us. That's the reason we're so busy in the things of the world. That's the reason we're so unrestful. We're not yet thoroughly convinced. We think we are. But when you're thoroughly convinced, like the old brother said awhile ago, something takes place. When you're really convinced, then you're concerned.” [62-1125M Convinced And Then Concerned_  Shreveport LA]
“Then John's prophecy was vindicated in God's Own order. Watch how perfect. The Bible said, "The Word of the Lord comes to the prophet." And Jesus was the Word. And John was prophesying of the coming of the Word for fulfillment; and Jesus, the Word, came to the prophet, in the water. Oh, how beautiful! How unfailing is the... See? The Word was a scarce thing in that day. Here come the prophet, saying, "I am the voice of the Word." They said, "What must we do?"  Said, "I'm not worthy to unloose His shoes. But there is One standing among you, somewhere, He'll be the One that'll baptize you with the Holy Ghost and Fire. His fan is in His hand, and He'll thoroughly purge His floor, and burn the chaff with unquenchable fire, take the grain to the garner." Oh, what a prophet! Jesus said there was never a man born of a woman as great as he, till that day. Oh, how blusterous! How he knowed where he was standing! He knowed exactly. He heard from God, and it was exactly with the Word, so he didn't care what people said. He preached It and prophesied It, anyhow. And watch, when a man stands for what is Truth, then God is obligated to vindicate that man the Truth.[65-0801E Events Made Clear By Prophecy, Jeffersonville IN]
Martha at the grave, she had met the Word of God. She believed It. Before she could see the miracle of God, she had to believe the Word of God and act upon It. She said, "Lord, if you would've been here, my brother had not died." He said, "Martha, I am the Resurrection and Life. He that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me, shall never die. Believest thou this?" She said, "Yea, Lord." There you are: acting. "I believe." "What do you believe, Martha?" "That Thou art the Christ that was to come into the world." Said, "Where you buried him?" Got down there at the grave, and there He was standing there. (Said, "I want to see if she really believes that I am the Word.") Said, "Take away the stone." She went to acting on the Word. She had to to see death turned to life. And the only way you'll ever be able to see death turned to life, is take His Word and act upon It. If you're a sinner, take His Word and act upon It, then you'll see the miracle of God. You become a miracle of God. If you're sick, take the Word of God. Doctor says, "You're going to die." Take the Word of God and act upon It, that'll bring new life.[61-1231, If God Be With Us Then Where Is All The Miracles, Jeffersonville IN
“ Jesus told the woman at the well, "You worship, ye know not what. We know salvation's of the Jew." Now, worship is not all we desire. There is a provided way of worship. Did you know that? See? There's a way to worship, and a way, right way to worship and the wrong way to worship. I'm not trying to tell you which way to worship; but I'm telling you; there's a way that you have to approach God. And if you do not come that provided way, you certainly cannot find God. There's a way for me to go home, not across the field, shortcut; go the highway. That's what was made; it's provided for me. God don't have any shortcuts. We all come the same way. That's right. No shortcuts to glory. We must come the way.” [50-0819 Show Us The Father And It Suffices, Cleveland OH]
“There is a man, a prophet indeed. He had a sign that he had to watch. And when he seen the Messiah, he was so sure that He was coming in his day, he was so positive. Oh, if the Church could only get Its positive position, if It would only know Its stand in the hour! For, according to the Scripture, he was the one to introduce the Messiah, and he knowed He had to be on earth in the days of his prophecy. Therefore He was lingering near to where he was preaching, so much that he said, "There is One standing among you    now, that you don't know, One among you right now." He knew it. He was there. The hour was at hand. He knew it.” [63-1129  The Super Sign, Shreveport LA]
“How many believes it? How many is convinced? [Congregation says, "Amen."--Ed.] How many is concerned? Raise your hand, say, "I am concerned. I am convinced that this is the Truth. That, I am now convinced that by His stripes I'm healed. I'm now convinced that the baptism of the Holy Ghost is right. I'm now convinced that Jesus Christ is in our midst." What did John say? "There is One standing among you, One standing among you, Who you know not." I'll have to change that part of it tonight, and say there is One standing among you, Who you see not. That's the Holy Spirit. He is the One, amen, that makes every promise true. Do you believe it with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind? Rise up to your feet and accept it then, as your healing, as your salvation, whatever you may be.” [62-0118  Convinced Then Concerned, Tempe AZ]
